      • Course objectives

        The main objective of the course is to introduce the students to the main aspects of neurobiology including the acquisition of several skills ranging from molecular, cellular, physiological, anatomical and computational levels.

        The main areas of study will be:

         

        • Neuromorphology and development neurobiology (including stem cell biology and human anatomy)
        • Neurophysiology and behaviour (including optogenetic interrogation of behaviour and in vivo electrophysiological recordings)
        • Neurochemistry and neuropharmacology (including next generation therapeutics and gene therapy)
        • Neurogenetics and genomics (including genome wide association studies and epigenetics)
        • Neuropsychiatric and Neurodegenerative Disorders (including Alzheimer’s and  Parkinson’s Disease, Intellectual Disability and Autism, Epilepsy and Motor Neuron disorders, Mood Disorders and Schizophrenia)
        • Advanced Methods in Neurobiology and Neuroscience (including human brain imaging and genomic techniques)
        • Bioinformatics and data analysis (including computational neuroscience and statistical methods)
